This Tough SUV From BAIC Tests Roads In The Philippines, Here Are The Specifications

JAKARTA - Automotive manufacturer from China, BAIC plans to spread its wings to several Southeast Asian countries, one of which is the Philippines.

It also marks the return of the brand to the Philippine market through distributor United Asia Automotive Group Inc. Although it has not yet started selling its vehicles, one of the models named BJ30 was caught on camera and was caught on the country's roads.

Launching from Autoindustryya, Friday, August 23, this tough-designed SUV looks parked with brand badges still covered and is the second generation of this series.

The current generation has been introduced in the 2024 Auto China event which took place last April. At home, BAIC BJ30 is present as the brand's first hybrid model. In the Philippines, this car will carry the name B30.

Unlike other models, BJ30 uses unibody construction and is available in two-wheel drive (2WD) versions accompanying all-wheel drives (AWD) and pure and hybrid ICE in the home market itself.

In the hybrid variant, the 2WD configuration has a 1.5 liter turbo engine accompanied by an electric motor that gains 334 ps power and a 550 Nm torque. However, AWD drivers have more impressive performance of up to 409 ps and 685 Nm torque.

The two variants carry transmissions designed for hybrid vehicles, namely Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) two accelerations.

In addition to offering impressive performance, BJ30 also has a number of conveniences in the cabin, such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument screen and a 14.6-inch infotainment touch screen placed on the dashboard.

To accommodate driving on all terrain, BAIC gave BJ30 with the All-Terrain Control System feature. Thus, the SUV is suitable for true off-road activists.

With a sturdy exterior plus capable AWD capabilities, this model is one of the interesting options for the Indonesian market and is a serious challenger for Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

BAIC marked the debut of the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) by inaugurating sales of BJ40 Plus worth IDR 783 million and X55 II worth IDR 487 million. All of them include the price of On The Road DKI Jakarta.
