KKP Invites Stakeholders To Support Maritime And Fisheries Sector Development
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has called for the involvement of business entities, the private sector and other institutions to participate in financing the development of the marine and fisheries sector. This is to support the implementation of blue economic programs.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho said that as the largest archipelagic country in the world, Indonesia has enormous marine and fishery potential.
However, in general, he continued, budgeting policies sourced from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) have not been fully able to finance the needs of blue economy development in the marine and fisheries sector.
"With the limited budget sourced from the APBN, it is necessary to make a breakthrough in creative, collaborative and inclusive financing innovation as a solution to the fiscal limitation of APBN budgeting in the implementation of the blue economy in Indonesia in a sustainable manner," said Rudy quoting Antara.
He explained that his party needs to develop an innovative and collaborative (innovative and collaborative financing) financing scheme which is an innovation in the investment sector to provide space for various legal funding sources so that they can be involved in financing the development of the marine and fisheries sector.
For this reason, the KKP encourages the involvement of business entities, the private sector and other institutions to participate in financing the development of the marine and fisheries sector.
"This workshop that is implemented has a strategic role in formulating policies and identifying alternative funding sourced from Non-APBN or APBD," he said.
Through a workshop entitled Innovative and Collaborative Financing which was held some time ago, it is hoped that all marine and fishery stakeholders will understand and utilize and adopt alternative financing instruments and be able to formulate a model of the innovation mechanism and financing collaboration between the multi-party parties to support the implementation of the blue economy going forward.

As is known, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono has launched five blue economies to maintain a balance between ecology and the economy.
The five blue economy policies are: Expanding marine conservation areas; measured fishing is quota-based; development of sustainable marine, coastal and land cultivation; supervision and control of coastal areas and small islands; and handling plastic waste at sea through the participation movement of fishermen or the Sea Love Month.
