Explosion At India's Pharmaceutical Factory, 7 People Died

Seven people were killed and more than 30 injured in an explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The fire broke out on Wednesday, August 21 afternoon, in the manufacturing unit of Escientia Advanced Sciences covering an area of 40 hectares belonging to the private sector which has been operating since 2019 in the Anakapalli district.

The wound has been transferred to a nearby hospital, an investigation has begun to identify the exact cause of the explosion, "said district authority Vijaya Krishnan.

Ten firefighters were involved in the rescue operation. Most of the fires have been under control," Krishnan's office continued.

Last year, two people were killed and five others injured in a similar fire accident that occurred at a solvent reactor in the Sahithi Pharma unit in the Anakapalli district.
