Five Police Tried For Helping The Escape Of Suspected 42 Women's Party Killer In Kenya
JAKARTA - Five Kenyan police officers have been charged with helping a 42-woman serial killer and 12 other detainees escaped from a police station in the capital Nairobi.
The prosecutor asked the court to detain the police, who were on duty during the prison break-in on Tuesday.
Prosecutors also asked the court to give more time to collect information, check CCTV footage and check police phones.
Among those who fled was Collins Jumaisi, who was arrested in July for a serial murder in which 6 female bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags in an old mine.

Police said Jumaisi confessed to killing 42 women including his wife, but his lawyer told the court his client was tortured to make a confession. Prosecutors deny he has been mistreated.
Initial investigations showed there were insiders who helped the escape. Police are now hunting for escaped prisoners.
Police reports seen by Reuters said Jumaisi and 12 Eritrean nationals escaped from their cells on Tuesday, and are expected to escape by cutting the wire in their cell windows.
