Do An Inspection, South Sumatra OKU Regency Government Emphasizes Swallow's Nest Business Must Be Licensed

OKU - Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Government (OKU) in South Sumatra (Sumsel) inspects the breeding of swallow's nests that do not have a business license.

Head of the OKU Environment Agency (DLH) Muhammad Firdaus admitted that he had responded to public complaints about the environmental impact of the business.

"Following up on public complaints, we formed a team from the DLH, the Licensing Service, the OKU Health Service and other relevant agencies to check several swallow breeding business locations as samples," he said in Baturaja, OKU, Tuesday, August 20, as reported by Antara.

He said the results of the examination showed that the graded shop buildings that should have been used for swallow breeding businesses were mostly used for other businesses such as electronics stores, building materials, and culinary delights.

Meanwhile, swallow breeding is on the top floor where most of its business licenses have expired since 2010.

Firdaus said that all permits for dozens of businesses examined had expired and business owners would be asked to apply for an extension of permits through the head of the swallow breeding community.

"We will invite all business owners to renew their permits and ensure compliance with applicable regulations," he stressed.

The OKU Health Office has also asked for information regarding the method of cleaning swallow's droppings, but there has been no conclusion regarding the environmental and health impacts of these businesses.

"We will continue to monitor developments and ensure that all swallow breeding efforts comply with applicable regulations to protect the interests of the community and the surrounding environment," he said.
