Case Of Bullying Lecturer To PPDS Resident At RSHS, West Java IDI Says This
The West Java (West Java) Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) emphasized that bullying in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) is not a tradition that should exist.Chairman of the West Java IDI Advisory Council, Eka Mulyana, said that the specialist doctor's education process must be based on the values of professionalism, ethics, and mutual respect between doctors."I say that whatever form of bullying, including in doctors, we oppose, because of course it is against the doctor's oath and the medical code of ethics," said Eka in Bandung, Antara, Tuesday, August 20.This was conveyed in response to the bullying case carried out by the lecturer to the resident who was participating in the PPDS program at the Saraf Surgery Department of Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS).Eka said that for the case of bullying, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University (Unpad) has decided to impose severe sanctions on the individuals involved.According to him, any form of bullying in the field of medical education is very contrary to the oath of doctors and medical ethics. So, when there is a case of bullying, it must be a serious concern for all parties."Yes, so that it doesn't happen, of course, there are many things that must be considered, especially in medical educational institutions, at least there are two to three aspects," said Eka.He revealed that medical education with health services cannot be separated. Therefore, in the field, practice is needed at educational hospitals, such as RSHS Bandung."Doctor education is not only listening and writing, but this doctor's education serves patients. So of course this requires practice where the education hospital is, for example at RSHS," he said.Eka said that while undergoing educational programs, specialist doctors need to have a work contract between educational institutions and students to prevent bullying cases from happening.
"We have an oath of doctors and a code of ethics, anyone in the medical element violates this, the sanctions will be issued," he said.
