Honda Confirms NSX EV Will Come In 2027 Or 2028

JAKARTA - Rumored for a long time, certainty regarding the next generation of NSX has come to light. Honda confirmed that this latest sports car will carry a pure electric driving system (EV).

Global Executive Vice President of Honda Shinji Aoyama, said this iconic model will be introduced as one of the electrification lines and will be present in 2027 or 2028.

"We will introduce a new sports model in 2027 or 2028," Aoyama said as quoted by Motor1, Monday, August 19.

However, Aoyama said that the model would likely not be referred to as 'NSX'. However, he confirmed that his car had a similar style to the sports car.

"We might not call it NSX, but it's kind of an NSX type vehicle," Aoyama added.

He also continued that the car will use the Series 0 basis and architecture developed by Honda. Before the model arrives, the manufacturer will introduce its first electric sedan in 2026 using the platform.

Aoyama said that the Series 0 architecture has an advantage, namely concise and light so that this car has a pleasant driving characteristics and can realize a lower altitude.

Even though it comes with EV batteries, we are trying to make the vehicle lighter. So we can realize vehicles with lower altitude so that it can create a larger cabin space too," said Aoyama.

Of course, public expectations regarding NSX's successor will be higher than before. What's more, the car must maintain the image of NSX as a sports car with excellent control and can arouse the enthusiasm of its users in the sense of driving.

The presence of the EV version of NSX is also in line with Honda's premium brand, Acura, who wants to design electric sports cars and has hinted several times about the presence of the model.

Rumors about the emergence of this new generation of models have existed since 2021, when Vice President and Brand Officer Jon Ikeda said that his party would present other NSXs in the future.
