A form of performance from visionary director Garin Nugroho and the outstanding work of a great creative team.
Director Garin Nugroho revealed the meaning of Samsara's creation process. "Samsara was inspired by my love for the classic German films of the 1920s, Nesferatu (1922) and Metropolis (1927), which brought me back to explore local traditions. Making this work for me is like leading and carrying out traditional ceremonies that live in various parts of Indonesia," explained Garin Nugroho, quoted by VOI from a media broadcast, Sunday, August 18.

Therefore, Garin added that in the process of making this silent film, players are required to feel socio-cultural sites.
"Therefore, creating Samsara is in the form of various ways, such as makeup artists, cooks, stage interpreters, dancers, musicians, ceremonial chairmen, and others," he said.
"Every ceremony represents socio-economic conditions and the community environment, so that in Samsara's creative process, every player must be able to bring in him a socio-cultural situation in the creation of samsara," said Garin Nugroho.
