It Rained Before The Lowering Of The Flag Ceremony At IKN, Jokowi: So Very Lively

JAKARTA - The Red and White flag lowering ceremony on the commemoration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day took place smoothly in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), Saturday, August 17, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Before the Red and White flag lowering ceremony, the rain had flushed in light intensity for about 15 minutes.

President Joko Widodo said that all the series of events went smoothly. The weather supports the ceremony even though it was raining.

"Alhamdulillah, everything started last night, holy reflection. Then, this morning, afternoon, and the lowering of the flag this afternoon, thank God everything went smoothly. Everything went well, the weather was also very supportive," said Jokowi.

Jokowi further revealed that the rain that fell before the ceremony made the lowering of the Red and White flag take place more solemnly.

"When we rest, it rains so that the atmosphere is cool. The atmosphere is not hot. The atmosphere of the ceremony is very solemn," said Jokowi again.

President Jokowi and First Lady, Iriana Jokowi, wore traditional Banjar clothes while leading the Red and White flag lowering ceremony.

The event was also attended by the President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, who wore a gray beskap.

The implementation of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia commemoration ceremony in 2024 is different from previous years. The ceremony was held in two places, namely, at IKN and the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
