Ilham Akbar Habibie: Humans Cannot Be Controlled By Artificial Intelligence
JAKARTA - Technology is growing rapidly, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) which is increasingly sophisticated. Responding to this, the Head of the Implementation Team for the National Technology, Information, and Communication Council (Wantiknas) Ilham Akbar Habibie said that humans must not be defeated and controlled by artificial intelligence.
"If we realize that, what the President (Joko Widodo) said is correct. Who controls artificial intelligence, it rules the world. But keep in mind, we always have to master artificial intelligence, not artificial intelligence that controls us", Ilham said in a statement. virtual discussion held by National ICT Council (Wantiknas), Thursday, March 25th.
Therefore, he reminded the developers to develop artificial intelligence, all orders or goals to be achieved must be well defined so that the control function of the technology continues.
"We must always ensure that what artificial intelligence wants to achieve is defined, it must be what we want because we are the ones who set what he has to do", said Ilham.
"So, the objective of controlling artificial intelligence is very important, and perhaps even more important than developing artificial intelligence itself", continued the eldest son of the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia, BJ Habibie.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Hammam Riza said that the development of artificial intelligence must refer to the interests of the community.
In addition, artificial intelligence must also add an element of responsibility, not aim to harm, and minimize any bias.

On that occasion, Hammam also reminded that synergy is needed between the country's best talents such as researchers, engineers, academics, and startup developers to build qualified intelligence technology.
"And if we can make optimal use of this artificial intelligence, we will participate in economic recovery and at the same time we will become the foremost country in economic growth to enter into Indonesia's 2045 vision to become the largest economy in the world", said Hammam.
