Preventing Casualties, Traffic Of Goods Ships Under The Ambruk Bridge In Muba, South Sumatra, Is Closed

The traffic (traffic) around the Lalan bridge in Musi Banyuasin (Muba) in South Sumatra (Sumsel) which collapsed was temporarily closed by coal barges.

Head of the Muba Transportation Service (Dinkes) Musni Wijaya said this was part of a short-term mitigation effort so as not to appear victims from traffic transportation of goods under the bridge.

"We have installed a road blockade on the community bridge so that people do not enter the bridge area. Installation of signs so that no ship passes under the bridge and also coordinates with the Palembang Class I KSOP not to issue a Ship's Motion Process Agreement Letter (SPOG) to pass under the Lalan bridge," he said in Sekayu, South Sumatra, Thursday, August 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that his party was also carrying out the flow of goods transport traffic using four-wheeled vehicles diverted to the pontoon crossing owned by PT Banyu Kahuripan Indonesia.

"We are also preparing pompong ketek and emergency piers for people to do activities and school children," he said.

In addition, for handling seriously injured victims and minor injuries, they were temporarily referred to the nearest health center and some have returned home. The captain of the ship was secured by Polairud of the South Sumatra Police," said Musni.

Meanwhile, Muba Regional Secretary Apriyadi said the impact of the incident in addition to having claimed lives also caused the local community not to be able to traffic normally, because the bridge was the only bridge access used by the community.

Therefore, the Muba Regency Government focuses on three fast movements and priorities for the benefit of the community, namely turning on electricity, crossing the flow of public transportation and compensation for victims.

"This is indeed a disaster but because of negligence. There is no need to blame each other because this has happened. Let's work together. So we emphasize that all parties who cause this disaster must intervene to help resolve the problem," he said.
