Taiwan Earthquake Shakes Taipei Buildings, No Damage Reports Yet

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 rocked Taiwan. There have been no reports of damage.

Reported by Reuters on Thursday, August 15, the earthquake hit Yilan's area in northeastern Taiwan. Authorities said there were no reports of damage.

Meanwhile, the US Geological Survey (USGS) noted that the Yilan Taiwan earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 on the richter scale.

The earthquake rocked buildings in the capital, Taipei. The earthquake had a depth of 9 km.

Taiwan is located near the intersection of two tectonic plates and prone to earthquakes.
