Jokowi Hopes Athletes Take Advantage Of Bonuses To Improve Achievements
JAKARTA - President Joko (Widodo) expressed his gratitude and pride to the athletes who won medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As a form of state appreciation for the athlete's struggle, the president handed over bonuses to medal-winning athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The bonus handover was made at the Merdeka Palace yard, Thursday 15 August.
The President hopes that bonus-winning athletes can make the best use of this appreciation. "This bonus is used as well as possible to motivate increasing achievement and make the nation proud again," said the President in his remarks.
Jokowi hopes that the achievements shown by medal-winning athletes will motivate other athletes to compete for achievements in other events.
"The success achieved by athletes is not instant, it takes a long process. This is related to long and sustainable training and early talent identification," continued the President.
Rock climbing athlete Veddriq Leonardo and weightlifter Rizky Juniansyah who won gold received a bonus of IDR 6 billion each. Meanwhile, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (badminton) who won a bronze medal received a bonus of IDR 1.650 billion.
In addition, the bonuses were also given to the coaches of each athlete. Weightlifting coaches, Hendra Basir (strength climbing) and Triyatno (weightlifting) each won IDR 2.75 billion.
