PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto: The Political Map Of The 2024 Pilkada Changes After Airlangga Hartarto Resigns

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the political map of the 2024 Pilkada could change after Airlangga Hartarto resigned from the position of General Chair of the Golkar Party.

"There are indications like that, but if at the district/city level the configuration is relatively representative of the political map in the regions, but if it is related to the provincial-level regional elections, there are indeed various scenarios because there is an interest in power," said Hasto in the Senayan area, Jakarta, Sunday.

He did not mention where the political map of the 2024 Pilkada will change, but he explained that regional elections with densely populated areas would be affected.

"Because there are those who think that this is a simultaneous regional election, and it will not happen again in the next five years, so this will become a power function for the benefit of 2029," he said, quoted by Antara.

On that occasion, he said that the power function for PDIP in the 2024 Pilkada was to strengthen the people, overcome extreme poverty, and build food sovereignty.

"It's a political function, not by making arrangements for power, especially by using the law as a tool of power to prepare 2029. That's elitist, and it leaves all democratic logic from the people, by the people, and for the people," he explained.

Meanwhile, Hasto said that the news of Airlangga Hartarto's resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party had been reported to PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"This is very surprising because this is in the context of simultaneous regional elections, and there has been a political incident that in our category is an extraordinary thing that touches the aspect of party sovereignty," he said.

According to him, Airlangga is a communicator figure and a colleague who builds good political cooperation.

"In the regional elections, we have worked a lot with the Golkar Party, apart from other parties such as Gerindra, PKB, PPP, Perindo, Hanura, and also the National Mandate Party," he said.
