Many Figures Apart From Anies Baswedan, Political Parties Are Asked To Avoid Empty Box Scenarios

Political observer Hendri Satrio alias Hensat considered that if Anies Baswedan failed to participate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, it was not a serious problem in the implementation of the elections.

According to him, the serious problem that must be avoided in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada event is how not to create an empty box scenario.

Moreover, Jakarta as the epicenter of national politics has never run out of candidate leaders. Therefore, political parties (political parties) who are fighting in the Jakarta Pilkada are asked to take the option of other figures to avoid the scenario of empty boxes.

"For me, the important thing is that there should be no empty box phenomenon in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. There are still many other names outside Anies Baswedan that can be looked at to contest in Jakarta," said Hensat, Sunday, August 11, 2024.

He admitted that Anies' chances of competing in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada were getting smaller following a statement from PKS which evaluated his support after Anies was deemed to have failed to obtain or build a coalition for the Anies-Sohibul Iman pair.

"If it turns out that Anies really can't participate in the Jakarta Pilkada, don't force an empty box. There are other names that can also be leaders," he added.

He gave an example of several names that should also be considered in the Jakarta governor and deputy governor candidate exchange, one of which is Sandiaga Uno. The position of minister currently held at the governor's level, and having experience as Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sandiaga is considered worthy of being proposed as a candidate.

"Although only until 2019, Sandiaga should be considered because there must be ideas about Jakarta that have not been completed. Other names of course Basuki Tjahja Purnama or Ahok who is also experienced in leading Jakarta," said Hensat.
