Isuzu Announces D-Max And MU-X Recalls Nearly 150 Thousand Units In Australia, This Is The Cause
JAKARTA - Isuzu announced the recall of 149,049 units in Australia involving the 2020-2024 and MU-X production D-Max models issued 2020-2024 in Australia.
Quoted from Drive, Saturday, August 10, the trigger for the recall was due to the potential for software errors in the engine control module.
This was also disclosed by the local Department of Infrastructure, which stated that the problem could reduce the engine's performance so that it could cause natural vehicles to lose power due to the loss of propulsion.
Loss of movement while driving can increase the risk of accidents that cause injuries or deaths for vehicle passengers and/or other road users, the Infrastructure Department said.
Australia's Isuzu Ute spokesman said manufacturers had identified issues related to this device controlling fuel pumps that could potentially result in engine output downturns or RPMs.
Although the number of reported cases is very small, as a proactive precaution, 149,049 vehicles have been tagged for the Engine Control Module (ECM) software update," said Australia's Isuzu Ute spokesperson.

The Japanese manufacturer advised it to contact the affected owners in writing, asking them to make an appointment with a nearby dealer to check and update the engine control module for free.
Other cars using bases from Isuzu D-Max, such as Mazda BT-50, were also affected by this problem involving 55,738 units assembled between July 21, 2020 and February 25, 2024. However, Mazda will make a special recall and will be confirmed in the near future.
This is not the first time this pickup has been affected by a recall. At the end of 2023, Isuzu announced the withdrawal of D-Max in the country of lechery involving 8,039 units.
The trigger for the recall was due to potential damage to the fuel line, which could cause a fire in the engine room. This problem is caused by an error in the manufacturing process, which causes the fuel hose to have abrasions on the engine oil height bracket and become damaged.
If this damage is not resolved, it can cause fuel leakage. If there is a source of lubricant from outside, this condition could result in a severe fire in the unit.
