Taking A Closer Look At The Autonomous Train Without A Rail At IKN, Ready For Functional August 17
BALIKPAPAN - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) stated that the autonomous train without rail or autonomous rail transit (ART) in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) will be functionalized on August 17.
The head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force (Satgas) of the Ministry of PUPR, Danis H Sumadilaga, said that the plan is currently still waiting for the results of the trial process from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
"The capacity can be more than 200 people, it's 3 series (in one trainset), some sit and stand. However, a total of approximately 200 people (can bring)," said Danis when met at KIPP IKN, Friday, August 9.
Danis said the Ministry of Transportation would conduct an internal trial process for the facilities and infrastructure of the series. If it goes smoothly, the follow-up trial process will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 10.
He said the trial agenda tomorrow will be focused on seeing the effectiveness of the series running on routes along the West Sumbu to East Sumbu areas.
Currently, there are two available fleets, each of which consists of three trainsets.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi had checked and inspected the railless autonomous train at the Kariangau Terminal (KKT) of Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province.
