President Jokowi Ensures Medal Winners Of The 2024 Paris Olympics Get Bonuses
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo ensured that athletes who won medals for Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics would receive bonuses.
Although he has not talked much about the technicality of bonuses, Jokowi guarantees that the bonus budget does exist and has been prepared.
"It will be discussed later, what is clear is that there must be a bonus," said Jokowi in his statement in Jakarta quoted on Friday, August 9, 2024.
On the same occasion, Jokowi also mentioned the success of athletes who won two golds for Indonesia. Veddriq Leonardo won the first gold for the Red and White Contingent from rock climbing sport number speed.

Then, Indonesia's second gold came from weightlifting. Rizki Juniansyah was the best in the 73 kg class.
"Yes, I am very happy. I really appreciate it and the community, I think everyone is happy with the gold acquisition from Veddriq Leonardo in rock climbing and just Rizki Juniansyah in weightlifting."

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the bonus amount received by gold-winning athletes was IDR 5.5 billion. Meanwhile, silver medalists received IDR 2.5 billion and bronze medals bagged IDR 1.5 billion.
Athletes in the Indonesian contingent and not getting medals also received an appreciation of Rp. 100 million. At the 2024 Olympics, it is not impossible that the bonus number will increase. Moreover, this has been stated by Menpora Dito Ariotedjo in June 2024.
"We can see the trend, how the 2023 SEA Games and the 2023 Asian Games, the bonus numbers are more than before," said Dito on a separate occasion.
"So we will see the trend, definitely related to the bonus we will ask for directions from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. We hope this can break history at the 2024 Paris Olympics," he said.
