Indonesia's Gold Medal Collection Throughout The Olympics Has Been Two Digits
JAKARTA Indonesia's gold medal collection officially reached double digits after receiving an additional two at the 2024 Paris Olympics which will be completed on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
The two new gold medals were contributed by Veddriq Leonardo from the men's speed rock climbing and Rizki Juniansyah from the men's 73 kilogram weightlifting.
The success of the two athletes made Indonesia now have collected a total of 10 gold medals, aka reaching double digits in the history of participating in the Olympics.
Veddriq got gold after in the final round at Le Bourget Sport Climbing Venue, he beat Chinese representative Wu Peng, by just 0.02 seconds.

The athlete from Pontianak recorded a time of 4.75 seconds, while his opponent finished with a time of 4.77 seconds.
Following that, Rizki became the best in his class by eliminating Thailand's representative, Weeraphon Wichuma ( silver medal), and Bulgarian lifter Bozhidar Andreev ( bronze medal).
The 21-year lifter has recorded a total lift of 354 kilograms (snatch 155 kilograms and clean and jerk 199 kilograms).
The 199 kilogram clean and jerk batch became an Olympic record, shifting the previous record to a lift of 198 kilograms belonging to Shi Zhi Yong (China) who failed to get a medal in Paris.
Meanwhile, Wichuma packaged a total force of 346 kilograms (snatch 148 kilograms and clean and jerk 198 kilograms) and Andreev lifted a total load of 344 kilograms (snatch 154 kilograms and clean and jerk 190 kilograms).
These two gold medals also match the achievements of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Two gold medals in one Olympics are still Indonesia's best achievements in the world's largest multi-events.
In addition, for the first time, Indonesia was able to get a gold medal from sports other than badminton. The previous eight gold medals were all won by badminton.
Despite the two gold medals at Barcelona, six other gold medals from badminton were obtained in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Tokyo 2020.
