Red Plate Mining Holding Shows Climate Friendly Water Management Technology For Efficiency

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Mining Industry Holding MIND ID conducts sustainable water management by utilizing climate-friendly technology.

"MIND ID is committed to consistently using water wisely, as well as carrying out sustainable water management by utilizing climate-friendly technology," said MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, August 8.

Coinciding with the LIKE 2 KLHK Festival, Heri said that water has an important role in the production process and support of the MIND ID Group, so it requires an utilization program while still being able to ensure good water efficiency.

"MIND ID Groups consistently strive to reduce new water extraction from nature, increase the reuse of water in the production and supporting processes and ensure the quality of water flowed to water bodies in accordance with applicable quality standards," he said.

Heri said MIND ID is also trying to increase the reuse of water in the production and supporting processes, as well as ensure the quality of water flowed to water bodies in accordance with applicable quality standards.

"LIKE 2 of 2024 is a momentum for all of us MIND ID Groups to be wiser in water use, as well as to carry out sustainable water management by utilizing climate-friendly technology," he said.

Heri detailed that PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) utilizes the results of processing industrial wastewater and mining and domestic waste water, to be reused in the mining process and mineral processing in their operations.

Furthermore, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) utilizes biotechnology with the implementation of structured wetland. The Floating Wetland System model uses a paralon pipe containing Wangi Roots (Vetiveria zizanioides) and Melati Air (Echinodorus palaefolius) capable of absorbing heavy metals such as Fe (0.52 ppm per gram) and Mn (2.28 ppm per gram).

Meanwhile, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has eight Wastewater Processing Installations (IPAL) which are managed in accordance with Indonesian Government regulations. The wastewater Quality of all installations is monitored regularly including pH parameters, biological oxygen (BOD) needs, total suspended solids and oil and fat, in accordance with quality standards.

Meanwhile, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (Inalum) encourages the implementation of technology in the operation of the Sigura-gura Dam and Tangga Dam which is an energy source for hydropower for company operations.

"Through the implementation of technology as well as various conservation efforts, INALUM maintains water discharge to maintain the ecosystem of the area around the Lake Toba Water Capture Area (DTA)," he added.

Furthermore, PT Timah Tbk (TIMAH) also utilizes the results of processing industrial and mining wastewater and domestic waste water, to be reused in the mining process and mineral processing in operational areas.

Likewise, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI) utilizes water resources as a hydropower plant. Vale has cross section overflow control level sensor technology at Matte Pond and is able to provide efficiency of 231,884 m3. This system is an update of water leak sensors at_mate pounds_ previously the water make-up water recirculation process at Converter and Furnace.

Heri said the public could take a closer look at the MIND ID Group water management program at the Environment, Climate, Forestry and New Renewable Energy Festival (LIKE) 2 held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

"This festival will be held again on August 8-11, 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center Hall A & B, Central Jakarta," concluded Heri.
