Prosecutors Demand 3 Defendants Of Smuggling 40 Kilograms Of Shabu Death Penalty
The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Bireuen District Attorney, Aceh, has demanded that three defendants smuggle 40 kilograms of methamphetamine, with the death penalty.
Kepala Kejari Bireuen Munawal Hadi mengatakan tuntutan pidana mati tersebut dibacakan dalam persidangan di Pengadilan Negeri Bireuen pada Kamis (8/8).
"There are three drug defendants charged with the death penalty. The prosecutor charged the three of them for being found guilty of committing the crime of methamphetamine with 40 kilograms of evidence," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 8.
The three defendants who were charged with the death penalty were Nur Afdhal, Syarif Hidayatullah, and Muhammad Ibrahim.
The prosecutor in his charge stated that the three defendants were guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics.
"On these charges, the defendant through his legal advisor stated that he would file a plea or defense. The trial will continue next week with the agenda of hearing the plea of the defendants," said Munawal Hadi.

Previously, Nur Afdhal and Syarif Hidayatullah were arrested by the NIC Task Force team of the Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri on February 15, 2024. Both were arrested in the waters of 15 nautical miles from Peudada, Bireuen Regency.
When arrested, found methamphetamine-type drugs weighing up to 40 kilograms. While other evidence was secured from both of them, namely a motorboat and engine, two mobile phones and a position-determining device or GPS.
Meanwhile, the defendant Muhammad Ibrahim was arrested by the NIC Task Force team of the Directorate of Narcotics Crime, Bareskrim Polri, on the same date.
Muhammad Ibrahim was arrested on the shores of Peuneulet Beach Baroh, Simpang Mamplam District, Bireuen Regency. The arrest of MI was based on securing the arrests of Nur Afdhal and Syarif Hidayatullah.
