Badut Baru, dbatscreen Pours a Story Relating to Teenage Romance

JAKARTA - The positive impact of using social media in everyday life turns out to have its own side effects. In addition to making overthinking, it is not uncommon for people to assume, including the matter of romance.

This phenomenon has inspired the work of songs by brothers, David CR Batlayar (Dave) and Daniel Joy Gratia Batlayar (Joy).

Those who call the duo DUtlayar put it in their latest single titled "Newturner" which was just released today, Wednesday, August 7. This song is available on all digital streaming platforms that come right at the end of World Disaster Day or the clocks week which is celebrated every August 1-7.

The term badut' in responding to this phenomenon is closely related to many events that occur. Starting from romance to social situations in society. Dave and Joy also managed to package it in a slick lyric and musical composition.

There is harmony that reminds us of the pop era of the 2000s. But lyric writing is the main weapon to achieve relatability with listeners.

Badut is synonymous with a person who can be entertaining but only in one direction. In this song, we position badut as the point of view of listeners of this song. Especially from the point of view of people who feel their love gets a reply from their loved ones, even though they don't, because the person they love already has a lover," said Dave.

This song was composed by two personnel at their homes, in Mangga Besar, Jakarta in January 2023. That night, Joy found a tone while playing the guitar that Dave responded well to.

"In the process of recording this song, we were assisted by many parties. The basic shape and beating of this song was directed by sis Febri HIVI!, the bass was played by Isaiah Christov, drum recording was played by Sis Jessi Mates. Our mixing process was assisted by Mas Rayendra Sunito, and mastering by Sis Dimas Pradipta. For vocal recording, we were directed by Mas Irvnat," explained Joy.

Under the auspices of the Keina Creative formed by the HIVI music group!, the dbatlayar has released five songs since 2020. Since childhood, they have grown up with GOspel, jazz, pop songs, as well as spiritual vocal group songs introduced by their parents.

"As for inspiration, we got a lot of inspiration from Indonesian singers and musicians, such as Glenn Fredly, Tompi, Chrisye and musicians from abroad, such as Michael Jackson, Ron Kenoly, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Buble," said Dave.
