Not Afraid To Give Testimony About PKB At PBNU, Gus Choi: Called By Allah, We Are Ready, Especially Called Bareskrim

JAKARTA - Former PKB politician Effendi Choirie (Gus ChoiO admitted that he was not afraid to testify about the relationship between the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board.

Gus Choi emphasized that he was only ready to be called by God, especially when he was only reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit, like what happened to the former Secretary General of PKB Lukman Edy.

This was conveyed by Gus Choi after fulfilling the summons of the Special Committee formed by PBNU to explore the disharmony of PBNU and PKB at the PBNU building, this afternoon.

"My context was invited by PBNU to provide testimony or confirmation or comparison about information on PKB birth until I was last at PKB (year) 2013," said Gus Choi at the PBNU building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, August 7.

The NasDem politician admitted that he would also fulfill the summons of the Criminal Investigation Unit if his statement regarding the PKB was policed.

"If we are called by Allah, we are not afraid, (Moreover) we are only called Bareskrim. Called by Allah, we must be ready, let alone called human beings," said Gus Choi.

Previously, the PKB DPP reported the former Secretary General of PKB, Muhammad Lukman Edy on suspicion of defamation. Chairman of the PKB DPP Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal said the report submitted had been received by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police with the number STTL/262/VIII/2024/BARESKRIM.

Cucun said Edy was reported because he was considered to have provided false information regarding his statement which said the lack of the role of the Shura Council had an impact on the internal dynamics of PKB and its relationship with PBNU.

"It has spread a news that is consumed by the public which endangers one hate speech or it is defamation which will be dangerous for us as a party, institution, or our leaders who are attacked and there is no basis and evidence," Cucun told reporters at the Bareskrim Polri building, Monday, August 5.
