Tanker Ship Caught Fire In Bali Waters, 5 People Died

The tanker ship containing fuel experienced a fire near Tepekong Island, Candidasa waters, Bugbug Village, Karangasem Regency. Five crew members were killed.

Head of Public Relations of the Karangasem Police, Iptu I Gede Sukadana, caught fire at around 03.00 WITA, Wednesday (7/8).

"Around 03.00 WITA there has been a fire on the Elisabeth tanker, in the waters of Tepekong Island," said Iptu Sukadana.

The witness initially heard the sound of an explosion on the left side of the crew. From there the fire spread to the ship's bridge.

"According to witnesses, the Elisabeth ship contained 21 crew members and about an hour and a half away, precisely around Gili Tepekong, suddenly there was an explosion and the black out ship," he added.

"Five people have died and others have been burned. The cause is still under investigation," said Iptu Sukadana.
