Sales Of Carbon Credit Pertamina NRE Reach 565,000 Tons Of CO2e Until July 2024
JAKARTA - Pertamina NRE's carbon credit sales on carbon exchanges have increased. As of July 2024, sales volume realization increased to around 565,000 tons of CO2e. Pertamina NRE's carbon credit currently controls 93 percent of the carbon credit market share in Indonesia.
Just so you know, Pertamina NRE became the first carbon credit seller at the launch of trading for the first IDX Carbon on September 26, 2023. The volume of carbon credit traded reached around 864,000 tons of CO2e. At the time of first trading on IDX Carbon, the volume sold reached around 460,000 tons of CO2e.
"We have various green portfolios and clean energy that have the potential to become a source of carbon credit. We are very open and enthusiastic to work with industries that have aspirations to reduce emissions from their operational activities," said Pertamina NRE Corporate Secretary, Dicky Septriadi, Wednesday, August 7.
Dicky explained that Pertamina NRE has carbon loans from Lahendong Unit 5 and 6 Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP) managed by Pertamina NRE's subsidiary, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE), with a volume of around 864,000 tCO2e, generated during the period 2016 to 2020.

"This carbon credit has met the national standards set by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry", he added.
Dicky added that in the future, Pertamina NRE's carbon credit will not only come from PLTP but also other clean energy sources, such as Steam Gas Power Plants (PLTGU) from Java-1 whose potential reaches around 3 million tons of CO2e every year.
Another source of carbon credit that is currently in the validation stage is the Sei Mangkei Biogas Power Plant (PLTBg) with an estimated carbon credit of 150,000 tons of CO2e produced from 2021 to 2023 and 200,000 tons of CO2e produced from 2024 to 2027.
