Actor George Segal Passed Away

JAKARTA - Actor George Segal passed away on Tuesday, March 23 in Santa Rosa after experiencing complications from bypass surgery.

Cited from Deadline on Wednesday, March 24, George's wife, Sonia Segal, confirmed this news. "The family announced this morning that George Segal has died of complications from bypass surgery".

Born on February 13, 1934, George Segal has starred in dozens of films, television series, and mastered the Broadway musical stage. Before trying out the world of roles, he had joined the military.

In 1961, he signed with Columbia Pictures and starred in the film The Young Doctors. Before he died, he filmed episode 16 of the family comedy show, The Goldbergs.

For eight years, George starred in the television show The Goldbergs, which aired on ABC. He is also known for the Just Shoot Me! from NBC which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Some of the films he starred in include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Where's Poppa?, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Terminal Man, 2012, Love & the Other Drugs, and others.

Through his Twitter account, The Goldbergs team expressed their condolences. "For eight years, George Segal made us laugh as Pops in The Goldbergs but his legacy in entertainment spans decades".

Throughout his life, George Segal earned one Oscar nomination, five Golden Globe nominations, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. George died at the age of 87.
