The Palace Calls Jokowi Active Communication With Megawati

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana stated that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continues to actively open communication channels and maintain friendship, especially with Megawati Soekarnoputri and other national figures.

Ari made this statement in response to the statement by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri in the handover of duplicate heirloom flags to all governors throughout Indonesia at Samudra Hall, Jakarta, Monday, which stated that her relationship with President Jokowi was fine.

"President Jokowi continues to open communication and maintain friendship with anyone, especially in touch with Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri and national figures," he said.

According to Ari, this openness shows President Jokowi's commitment to building a harmonious and productive relationship in the political and social arenas in Indonesia.

Regarding the discourse of a three-term presidential term which was also brought up by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia on the agenda, Ari said that Jokowi's attitude from the start had complied with constitutional law.

"Regarding the three-term narrative that is always associated with President Jokowi, it is necessary to emphasize that from the beginning when the discourse appeared, President Jokowi's attitude was very clear, he was obedient and obedient to the constitution," he said.

The discourse on extending the presidential term to three terms had surfaced before the 2024 presidential election. At that time, many parties pushed for Jokowi's administration to be extended to three terms.

According to Ari, the authority to change the constitution is entirely the domain of the MPR, not determined by the President.
