TRIPATRA Invites The Young Generation To Explore The World Of Industry Through The 'Engineering For Teenagers' Program
JAKARTA - Currently, the need for engineers in Indonesia continues to increase. However, only about 14% of college graduates in Indonesia come from the field of engineering or are only able to produce 100,000 engineers each year. This figure is much lower than other Asian countries, even though Indonesia is the country with the fourth largest population in the world.
Data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology also noted that there are around 2,671 engineers per 1 million population in Indonesia. This figure is still far behind when compared to Vietnam, which has 9 thousand engineers per 1 million population and South Korea 25 thousand engineers per 1 million population. The number of engineers in Indonesia is certainly considered very small and even far from ideal.
PT Tripatra Engineers and Constructioners (TRIPATRA), a leading engineering engineering-based solution provider in Indonesia, collaborated with the Indika Foundation to organize the "Engineering for Teenagers" program on Saturday, July 20. This program provides an opportunity for around 70 junior high school/equivalent students throughout Jabodetabek to get to know more closely and create interest in the younger generation in engineering and renewable energy. Ananto Wardono, Green Energy Development TRIPATRA explained that this shortage of engineers can be a challenge for the development of the country in various sectors, such as infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and others.
"To overcome this problem, we need to invest in education and training to create more competent professionals. By preparing our young generation to have a career in the field of engineering, we not only strengthen the nation's ability to manage natural resources, but also ensure sustainable progress that has a positive impact on the wider community," said Ananto, in a written statement, Tuesday, August 6.
The "Engineering for Teenagers" program presents an innovative series of events to open the interest of the younger generation in the engineering and renewable energy professions, such as talk shows and experiments. talk show shows discuss experiences and knowledge of various engineering disciplines, career opportunities in engineering, as well as the important role of engineers in creating innovative solutions to face various challenges in the future.

Meanwhile, at the peak of the event, the participants were invited to take part in a simple experiment in the field of renewable energy, namely "Solar Drip Irrigation". This experiment aims to provide an overview of the renewable energy industry while at the same time fostering the creativity of the participants.
Competency in engineering is very important for the progress of a nation. TRIPATRA's commitment is to contribute to sustainable development.
"By improving the quality of education and introducing engineering science from an early age, we hope to open up opportunities to create reliable young engineers in the future to meet the needs of domestic experts, especially to support the acceleration of downstreaming and energy transition. Since it was first launched in 2019, the 'Engineering for Teenagers' program has managed to reach more than 300 junior high school students, out of more than 200 schools, and we hope this number will continue to grow every year," Ananto added.
