Iraq Condemns Attack On Al-Asad Base, Rocket Launching Truck Confiscated

JAKARTA - The Iraqi military has denounced "sembrono" actions against bases in its territory. Iraq secured trucks with rocket launchers a day after at least five US personnel were injured in attacks amid increasing escalation of attacks in the Middle East conflict.

The region is in tension due to the Gaza war and possible retaliation by Iran and its allies following the assassination of senior members of the militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

"We reject all reckless actions and practices targeting Iraqi bases, diplomatic missions, and the presence of international coalition advisers, as well as anything that could escalate tensions in the region," the Iraqi military statement said.

The military did not confirm that US personnel were injured, as US officials told Reuters.

Iraq said two rockets were fired on Monday, August 5 at the Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq from the nearby city, Haditha.

Small trucks were confiscated with rocket launchers attached at the back.

"Our security force formation, through intelligence and security work, has obtained important information about the perpetrators of the attack on Ain al-Asad, and they are currently being pursued to bring them to justice," the Iraqi military statement continued.
