Gene Sperling, A Former Member Of The Ripple Council, Joins Kamala Harris' Campaign Team

JAKARTA - Gene Sperling, a former Ripple board member, has officially joined the Kamala Harris campaign team for the 2024 US presidential election. The announcement comes after Sperling played an important role in managing a US$1.9 trillion pandemic aid package under President Joe Biden's administration and served as a liaison during a strike in the automotive industry.

Sperling, who once served as director of the White House National Economic Council under the administration of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, will now be a senior economic advisor to Harris.

In a statement, President Joe Biden highlighted Sperling's contribution in providing child tax assistance to nearly 40 million workers' families and providing emergency assistance to more than 8 million tenants to keep them living.

I also rely on Gene as a trusted economic advisor and give him some of the toughest tasks, including making him my link with three major automakers and the United States Automotive Workers Union (UAW) as automotive workers struggle and eventually get a record-breaking contract., "said Biden.

According to Crypto News information, Sperling has also had a history of working with Kamala Harris since he served as California's Attorney General during the Obama administration, and he has often advised Harris during his tenure in the Senate.

In 2015, Ripple Labs, the company behind cryptocurrency XRP, appointed Sperling to its board of directors to support the company's mission of increasing the speed and efficiency of cross-border payments through joint internet protocols.

"I am excited to join Ripple Labs and their mission to dramatically increase the speed and efficiency of cross-border payments," Sperling said at the time.

Apart from Sperling, David Plouffe, a former adviser to President Obama, has also joined the campaign team Kamala Harris. Plouffe, known as Obama's campaign manager in 2008 and senior White House adviser during the 2012 re-election, recently became a member of Binance's Global Advisory Council in 2022. With his expertise in the crypto industry, Ploffe is expected to bring a new perspective into Harris' campaign.

With the joining of these two influential figures, the campaign team Kamala Harris seems to further strengthen its position in facing the upcoming presidential election, especially in dealing with increasingly relevant economic and technological issues today.
