Out Of Overkill, Jason Bittner Wants To Focus On Shadow's Fall And Category 7

JAKARTA - Jason Bittner has decided to resign from the Overkill drummer position. The decision was announced through his upload on Instagram.

"As of August 8 (1) I am no longer playing drums for Overkill," Jason Bittner wrote.

With this announcement, Bittner ended his seven-year togetherness with Overkill. He joined in 2017, and was involved in the albums The Wings Of War (2019) and Scorched (2023).

In a recent interview with Metal Injection, the 54-year-old drummer said the decision was made to focus more on two other bands, Shadow's Fall, which was reactivated and his new band Category 7.

"On August 1, 2024, I played at the Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal, and it was my last show in the Overkill band," said Bittner.

"It's been a long time since I've handled several different bands with Overkill, and I know one day I have to give in because I can't be in three places at once. Over the past year, my schedule reached a peak point."

Bittner says Shadow's Fall is working on new material and will launch next year. In addition, they will also feature in several shows this fall.

"In addition to my new band, record artist Metal Blade Category 7 whose album was just released last month and will start the tour until 2025 soon. All of this makes me have to'rest', so starting today I will no longer be playing drums at Overkill so I can concentrate only on bands where I am a full member," he said.

Bittner asked Overkill fans not to be disappointed with his decision, because there were already other great drummers who came to replace him. However, the drummer's name has not been published.

"Don't worry, they currently have other great drummers who are studying the material, and he will be ready to fight for the upcoming tour," he said.

I would like to thank EVERYONE in the Overkill extended family for seven and a half years full of laughter, stunning performances, and excitement around the world.
