JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined the 2019 DPR RI candidate for the West Kalimantan electoral district, Alexius Akim. The former Head of West Kalimantan Education and Culture Office was examined as a witness in the alleged bribery case between members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) who ensnared Harun Masiku."Yes, today there is an examination of witness brother AM and brother AM who is a candidate for the DPR RI in the West Kalimantan electoral district and the person concerned is also the former head of the West Kalimantan education and cultural office," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, August 5.Tessa did not elaborate further on the examination. He only said the investigation was related to the bribery that dragged Harun Masiku."Of course the examination in question is still related to giving gifts or promises made by HM or matters surrounding the case in question, be it the search or position of suspect HM or other matters that according to investigators, information is needed to be clarified," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.Meanwhile, after being questioned, Alexius did not want to talk much about what investigators were investigating. He admitted that he was only asked about his candidacy in the 2019 Legislative Election.At that time, Alexius ran as a candidate from the PDIP before moving to the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). “ What is clear is that I should have been inaugurated but I was dismissed, ” he said after undergoing the examination.Even so, Alexius admitted that he did not know Harun Masiku. “ I never (meeted, ed),” he said.“ And I don't know (and Harun Masiku, ed),” continued Alexius.
As previously reported, Harun Masiku has now been a fugitive for four years or since 2020. This escape was carried out after being named a suspect in the bribery of former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to serve as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives through the interim replacement mechanism (PAW).
