2024 Olympics: 3 Indonesian Last Life Sports

JAKARTA There are still three sports (sports) that are Indonesia's last lives to be able to bring home a gold medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Indonesia has so far not won a gold medal even though the majority of athletes have competed. In total of 21 athletes who have fought, there is only one bronze medal.

The only bronze medal was contributed by women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. This 24-year-old badminton player was supposed to face Carolina Marin in a bronze race.

However, Marin ended his journey in Paris with fate in the semifinals against Chinese representative He Bingjiao. He was injured after winning the first set and was ahead in the second set.

The injury left Marin, the gold medalist at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, unable to go down in bronze, so Gregoria automatically has the right to the third podium.

This result is a step back from badminton as happened in London 2012. In fact, the target is for badminton to be able to contribute gold again this year.

After the failure in badminton, Indonesia still has hopes to add medals from the remaining three sports, namely rock climbing, weightlifting, and track bike racing.

In total there are still eight athletes who will fight. From the women's and men's speed rock climbing, there are Madei Rita Kusuma Dewi, Rajiah Sallsabillah, Veddriq Leonardo, and Rahmad Adi Mulyono.

Then, from weightlifting there were Eko Yuli Irawan (61kg male), Rizky Juniansyah (73kg male), and Nurul Akmal (81kg female). Finally in the track bike race there was Bernard Benyamin Van Aert (men's aluminum).

Rock climbing and weightlifting are two sports that are favored to get a gold medal. If it is not achieved then Indonesia will repeat bad memories in London.

At that time, Indonesia only brought home two silver medals and one bronze medal. All three medals were contributed by weightlifting.
