Venezuela's 2024 Presidential Election Is Ricuh, 7 European Union Member States Urge Transparency To Count Votes

JAKARTA - At least seven EU countries (EU) have urged Venezuela to publish the process of counting the votes for the 2024 Venezuelan presidential election since the polling stations (TPS) as evidence of transparency.

The joint EU member states statement was based on their shared concern about the situation in Venezuela after the 2024 presidential election some time ago.

"We urge Venezuelan authorities to immediately release all the results (from the polling stations) to ensure transparency and integrity of the election process. This verification is very important to recognize the will of the Venezuelan people," the statement read, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 4.

The seven countries in question are Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Portugal.

Meanwhile, thousands of Maduro supporters took part in walking and motorcycle convoys through the Caracas roads, ending with a statement outside the presidential palace of Miraflores.

Thousands of Maduro supporters said they took to the streets to voice peace in the country and celebrate the victory of their leader, reports journalist Sputnik.

"Politics should not be based on violence. So, this action is for victory, but also for peace that deserves the acceptance of our people and for stability so that we can continue to work, rebuild the economy," said Venezuela's First Vice President of the National Assembly, Pedro Infantry.

The presidential election in Venezuela was held on July 28. The next day, the National Election Council declared Nicolas Maduro, who got more than 51 percent of the vote, as the winner.

The opposition group Venezuela claimed a landslide victory in the election, referring to the proceeds they obtained from polling centers across the country.

Protests by mass opposition erupted in Venezuela, with more than 2,000 people detained on charges of damaging state infrastructure, inciting hatred and terrorism.
