Rahman Urbon: Optimizing Bintuni Bay Natural Property For The People
JAKARTA - The natural wealth in Teluk Bintuni Regency, according to Rahman Urbon, must be as much as possible felt by the people. Natural wealth for the prosperity and welfare of the people.
"Bintuni Bay Regency has natural resources in the form of oil and gas. Oil and gas reserves have been explored by foreign company British Petroleum," said Rahman during a stop at the VOI Office, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, August 1.
Rahman is now preparing to run as a candidate for regent in the 2024 Pilkada in Teluk Bintuni Regency. As a PPP cadre, he is approaching his party and several other parties to get recommendations as a candidate for regent.
Regarding the couple who will accompany him in the Bintuni Bay Pilkada, according to Rahman, it has narrowed to two names. "But at this time I can't reveal the names. If it is certain who will be my deputy regent candidate," he said.
Apart from producing oil and natural gas, Teluk Bintuni Regency, said Rahman, has the potential for agriculture and marine products. "I will invite my deputy candidates later to include the agricultural and fisheries sectors," said Rahman, who also serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Teluk Bintuni Regency.

So far, fisheries and agriculture in Bintuni Bay have been running, but the main obstacle is marketing. "Farmers have grown crops, and our fishermen have gone to sea and caught fish and other marine products. However, the problem is marketing. This will be my program and prospective pairs later if they can fight in the 2024 Pilkada," he said.
Access from Teluk Bintuni Regency to outside areas must be opened so that the existing natural results can be well distributed. "Today we are still isolated because connectivity with other regions, especially in the Southwest Papua Province, is still difficult. Even if there is, it is still expensive. If left with the current conditions, our marine products and produce are not competing because of the high cost of transportation," he said.
