Meeting Putin, Prabowo Calls Russia A Good Friend Often Helps Indonesia When It's Difficult

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Minister of Defense and president-elect, Prabowo Subianto, called Russia a 'good friend' when meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, Wednesday, July 31. According to Prabowo, Russia often helps Indonesia during difficult times. Prabowo also wants Indonesia-Russia to continue to have good relations.

"It should be remembered that Russia has helped us (Indonesia) in many aspects when we were experiencing difficulties. Russia helped us at that time," Prabowo said during a meeting with Putin. In a press statement received Thursday, August 1, Prabowo said that Russia had also helped Indonesia in building military defense and strength. As defense minister, Prabowo specifically revealed that he felt good cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.

"And I came here to emphasize that this relationship will continue when I officially serve as president of Indonesia on October 20," said the General Chair of Gerindra.

In addition, Prabowo said, he had also established intensive communication and discussions with Putin's team. One of them is related to the defense industry.

"I have also met senior officials in your industry, in the defense industry, and intensively in recent months discussed the increased cooperation roadmap between us (Indonesia) and Russia," concluded Prabowo.
