Haniyeh's Death Will Not Be Silent, Khamenei: Zionist Regime Killing Beloved Guests In Our House

JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah said his country would not allow the death of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, calling it his duty to take revenge.

"The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime has sacrificed our honorable guest on our territory and has caused our grief, but has also prepared a place for severe punishment," Khamenei said in his Wednesday message, as quoted from the Khamenei site.ir July 31.

Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran to take part in the inauguration of Iran's elected president on Tuesday afternoon. The Hamas group on Wednesday confirmed Haniyeh's death at his residence in Tehran.

Furthermore, Khamenei said, Haniyeh was willing to sacrifice his life in the battle that had been going on for years.

"He is ready to be martyred and has sacrificed his children and loved ones on this road. He is not afraid to be martyred," said Khamenei.

"However, after the bitter and tragic events that took place within the border of the Islamic Republic, we believe that it is our duty to take revenge," he stressed.

Khamenei received Haniyeh and the Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad Ziyad al-Nakhalah on Tuesday, before the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

"I express my condolences to Muslims; the Resistance Front; brave and proud Palestinians; and especially to the families and loved ones of Syuhada Haniyeh and one of his martyred friends beside him," Khamenei said.
