This Super Rare EB110 Bugatti Is Auctioned, It Can Reach IDR 45 Billion
JAKARTA - One unit of Bugatti EB110 will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby. However, this is not just an ordinary car but is a Super Sport Prototype which is only assembled by seven units in the world.
The EB110 model was born in order to pay tribute to the founder of this brand, namely Ettore Bugatti, who is 110 years old. This supercar comes with several types, but the Super Sport Prototype has various interesting stories.
Launching from this auction house, Wednesday, July 31, this car was taken from the base of the EB110 GT and first introduced to Geneva Salon in 1992. Then, the supercar was developed to make its performance more optimized.
Bugatti made weight savings by reducing it to more than 330 pounds or about 150 kg and its enhanced power exceeded the GT variant.
By maintaining a 3.5 liter quad-turbocharged V12 engine paired with a transmission of six manual accelerations, Super Sport can generate up to 603 dk of power and accelerate from 0 to 97 km/hour in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of up to 221 mpj or 355 km/hour. This makes it one of the fastest supercars in its time.
After being exhibited at the 1992 Geneva Salon event, the car known as S4 is the first EB110 made specifically for the Super Sport variant. Then, the supercar was used as a promotional tool for Bugatti and as a prototype to perfect the design of this model.
Then in 1993, the car was again exhibited along with 3 units of EB110 GT and the EB112 concept at the official brand presentation at Ark Hills Complex, Tokyo, Japan. The intense media loop made the presentation a huge success and helped strengthen Bugatti's presence in the country. In fact, this car has appeared in Super CG magazine for the summer edition of that year.
After that, this French manufacturer brought the EB110 Super Sport Prototype to the Nardo Ring, Italy. The place is a testing circuit for high-speed cars with a distance of 23 km. Bugatti brought this supercar while ensuring that EB110 was the fastest car in the world.
As documented, the EB110 was able to reach speeds of up to 351 km/h while confirming its position as the fastest car in the world at that time.

After conducting the test, the manufacturer realized its potential expansion in Japan and was then sold to a legendary Japanese racer named Sokochi Shikiba. He was the winner of the Japanese Grand Prix in 1964.
In addition, Shikiba is also known as the king of racing which is quite respected among the Japanese supercar community, making him an ambassador for Bugatti in the country.
He maintained the model for the rest of his life, starting from being regularly featured at the Japan Bugatti Club meeting in Tokyo to taking care of him carefully until he died in 2016.
The car was moved to Australia for some maintenance, including cleaning up all panels done by the City Auto Group of Geelong, Victoria.
Then, the EB110 Super Sport received a number of intense treatments. In documentation, this car received a coupling service and brakes in 2022 and the installation of a new fuel tank in February 2024 which cost US$20,000 (Rp 325 million).
This EB110 Super Sport Prototype only recorded a distance of 12,557 km during the previous ownership period. With an iconic form with an interesting story, of course this car will be used as a means of struggle for the collectors.
RM Sotheby will auction off this car which will take place in Monterrey, Canada on August 15-17. According to this auction house, the Bugatti EB110 Super Sport Prototype will sell in the range of 2.4 million to USD 2.8 million (equivalent to IDR 39 billion to IDR 45.5 billion).
