Passengers At YIA Airport Grow 0.37 Percent In Semester I 2024

PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, recorded 2,045,299 passenger movements in January-June (semester I) 2024, growing 0.37 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport Ruly Artha in Kulon Progo, Tuesday, July 30, said the growth also experienced a recovery rate of up to 6.574.60 percent compared to the first semester of 2019 or before the COVID-19 pandemic, which YIA served 30.643 passengers during that period in 2019.

"With this trend of traffic growth, we are optimistic that the air transportation sector will grow and recover, supported by commitments from all stakeholders such as CIQ, airlines and ground handling in presenting airport service innovations and providing the best service to YIA service users," said Ruly, quoted from Antara.

He said the details of passenger movements in the first semester of 2024 were divided into 1,828,262 passengers on domestic routes and 217,037 passengers on international routes, which grew 26.61 percent of the number of passengers on international routes in 2023.

YIA also noted quite high growth in the cargo sector, which is 7,507,518 kg, growing 43.47 percent compared to the same period in 2023, which serves 5,232,918 kg of cargo.

"As for aircraft movements, YIA has served 14,113 aircraft movements in the first half of 2024, with a recovery rate of 3,820.28 percent compared to the first half of 2019," he said.

In supporting operational performance and service commitment to airport service users, continued Ruly, YIA presented nine new retail outlets and F&B in the first half of 2024. This addition complements the number of retail outlets, F&B, service and Independent Cash Platforms (ATMs) that have been presented to support operational activities at YIA to 103 outlets. The occupancy of these outlets reaches 74 percent of the total available space.
