AVC U-20 2024 Results: Indonesia Failed To Final

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team failed to advance to the final round of the 2024 U-20 Asian Volleyball Championship (AVC) after losing against Iran in the semifinals.

Garuda Muda gave up with a landslide score of 0-3 (21-25, 14-25, and 16-25) in a duel that took place at the Java Pos Arena Surabaya, East Java, on Monday, July 29, 2024, evening.

"Iran is in the same class as our team. Previously we knew that Iran was indeed a tough opponent. They were good at serving, receiving, and defending (block)," said assistant coach Joni Sugiyatno.

Indonesia will next face Japan for the third position. The country of Sakura ran aground to the final after losing dramatically 2-3 (20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21, and 11-15) against South Korea.

The match for third place will take place on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 16.30 WIB. Following that, the duel between Iran and South Korea at 19.00 WIB.

Even though it failed in the semifinals, Indonesia is certain to have received a ticket to the 2025 U-21 Volleyball World Championship. Garuda Muda got a ticket with three other semifinalists.

This achievement met Indonesia's target. Before the 2024 U-20 AVC took place, PBVSI did set a target to qualify for the 2025 U-21 World Championships.

The host of the event has not yet been announced. Indonesia intends to propose to be the organizer of the prestigious event.
