Directorate General Of Culture Encourages Fulfillment Of Social Security Rights For Cultural Actors
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate of Energy and Cultural Institutions (PTLK) and the Directorate General of Culture, provides social security protection through BPJS Employment for cultural actors who receive awards from the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Anwar Makarim.
This aims to create a healthier ecosystem and calmer in doing cultural work.
Director General of Culture, Hilmar Farid together with the Director of Participation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Zainudin, symbolically handed over membership cards to representatives of cultural actors at an event held at Graha Utama Building A, Kemendikbudristek Complex, Tuesday, July 23.
A total of 67 outstanding cultural actors who received the Indonesian Cultural Award (AKI), the Indonesian Music Award (AMI), and the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) will receive 3 programs protection from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, namely Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Security (JKM), and Old Age Security (JHT).
On this occasion, the rights were also given in the form of funds and scholarships to the heirs of one of the artists who died in a work accident, worth a total of IDR 221 million.
In his remarks, Hilmar said that cultural arts actors must be protected by the state. According to him, the profession of artists and cultural actors is the same as other professions that do not escape the risk of carrying out their work.
"I hope that this handover can increase awareness of cultural actors and employers to care and understand the importance of protecting social security so that they can continue to work without worry," said the Director General.
Hilmar also underlined the need for collaboration between various parties, starting from the central government, local governments, and employers, to fulfill the employment social security rights for all cultural actors in Indonesia. "We carry out advocacy to ensure that services like this should be provided by the state and of course we are in the central government, the Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Education and Culture, can be said to initiate that the cultural service at the district/city level can be continued," he said.
For the protection provided by Zainudin, he appreciated the strategic steps taken by the Ministry of Education and Culture in preserving Indonesian culture.
He said the protection provided was also indirectly able to maintain contributions and increase the enthusiasm of cultural arts actors to continue working in their respective fields.
"Furthermore, we are ready to collaborate. We will not all stop presenting good protections for friends in art actors. We really want to help the Ministry of Education and Culture in particular, the Directorate General of Culture to present social security for employment to all art actors. cultural actors and so on," explained Zainudin.
Tidore Founder Anita Gathmir, who is also one of the recipients of employment social security from the Ministry of Education and Culture, welcomed the Ministry of Education and Culture's plan to draft regulations so that all local governments also move to provide social security protection for cultural actors in their area. They want them to become civil servants. Why? They say because they have retirement," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Employment BPJS Branch Office (Kakacab) Grogol Rommi Irawan, said that providing education on the protection of employment social security to cultural arts and creative industry actors continues because they have risks related to their professions. Imagine if you are doing training or rehearsals and performances there are risks, who will bear the costs of treatment and treatment?' said Rommi.
Rommi Irawan conveyed that collaboration with cultural arts actors and creative industry players needs to be carried out so that education about the protection of employment social security can be conveyed appropriately.
