Consistently Fighting Hunger And Poverty, President Jokowi Wins Award From FAO

JAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will receive the Agricultural Medal award from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the end of August. The award was given because the Jokowi administration is considered consistent in fighting hunger and poverty in Indonesia.

Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi said, Agricola Medal is FAO's recognition of the contribution and commitment to figures or heads of state who are considered to have great efforts to improve people's welfare and extraordinary support for FAO's fundamental goals in achieving universal food security.

The last FAO award was given to Indonesia 39 years ago to President Suharto. Now we should be proud because Agricola Medal was given because the President is certainly with all his staff, consistently fighting hunger and poverty and strengthening food security and community nutrition," he said in an official statement, Monday, July 29.

Furthermore, Arief said FAO is scheduled to come to Indonesia on August 30 to give a direct award to Jokowi.

"According to a letter from the Director General FAO from Rome, saying that on August 30, FAO will come to Indonesia to give the Agriculola Medal award to President Joko Widodo. This medal aggricola is giving awards to the leadership of the state, in this case the president," explained Arief.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said, Agriculola Medal is also the result of the hard work of the National Food Agency and Perum Bulog.

"This is extraordinary, I am proud of the National Food Agency, the more advanced it will be. The President will receive an award (Agricola Medal) from FAO, God willing, on August 30. This is thanks to the National Food Agency and Bulog," he said.

"This is extraordinary, the success was marked by an award to Mr. President Jokowi, from the direct FAO. We received an award for food security, one of the best in the world. Thank God, this is thanks to our collaboration with the National Food Agency and Bulog," he continued.
