Accusing The Hajj Special Committee For Attacking PBNU, Nusron Wahid Reminds Gus Yahya: DPR Doesn't Know Personal

Member of the Special Committee (Pansus) Anggat Haji from the Golkar Party faction, Nusron Wahid, dismissed the statement by the General Chairperson of the Nahdatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya who accused the formation of the DPR's Hajj Question Committee due to personal problems to attack PBNU.

Nusron dismissed that someone was targeting the Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, who is a NU cadre and Gus Yahya's younger brother.

Nusron emphasized that the DPR's Hajj Questionnaire Special Committee was not a personal decision of members, but an official decision in a plenary meeting approved by the factions in the DPR.

"I apologize to the General Chairperson of PBNU, Gus Yahya Staquf. In the DPR, I do not know personal matters. Whoever is the Minister of Religion or a public official who recklessly runs the government and is suspected of violating the law, the DPR according to its duties in supervising it will definitely use its constitutional rights, so it will remain in the Special Committee," said Nusron Wahid to reporters, Monday, July 29.

"Once again, it's not a personal sentiment because it happens that the minister is the younger brother of the General Chair of PBNU," he continued.

Nusron, who once served as General Chair of GP Ansor for the 2010-2015 period and Deputy Chairman of PBNU 2021-2023, appealed to all institutional elements, both community organizations (Ormas) and state institutions to respect each other's rights.

PBNU focuses on taking care of the people and pesantren. Regarding the Special Committee for the Right to Question, there are already mechanisms and rules in the DPR. This is a matter of the DPR with the minister of religion. It has nothing to do with anything else, including PBNU which is not part of the government. Especially if it is brought to personal sentiment, it is not in its place," said the member of Commission VI of the DPR.

Nusron also explained that the DPR in carrying out its rights to form the Hajj Anggat Special Committee must have strong indications, data, and legal basis. The data will later be verified as evidenced in the ongoing budget process.

"If the Hajj is not considered a problem and is fine, of course there will be no Hajj Special Committee. This is an ordinary process, a process of data and facts dialect between the DPR and the minister of religion. We just follow the process in a transparent and accountable manner so as not to cause slander and rumors between the DPR and the Ministry of Religion," he explained.

The Golkar politician ensured that the Special Committee would work professionally, proportionally, crediblely and responsibly.

"The special committee will not be able to do anything, if the minister of religion is true in his policies. On the other hand, the Minister of Religion will also not be able to dodge if it is wrong. So we are objective, Javanese people say; make up the olo ketoro point, what is true will be visible and the bad will be caught," concluded Nusron Wahid.

Previously, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf considered the DPR's Hajj special committee to have a political nuance. Gus Yahya suspects that the Hajj budget committee is considered to be formed only intending to attack PBNU. Moreover, the Hajj budget special committee appeared shortly when PBNU intended to return the PKB to NU.

"Regarding the special committee, yes, the Hajj Special Committee. Now that is what raises questions to us about the Hajj Special Committee and then attacks NU, maybe this is a personal matter, maybe it's like that," said Gus Yahya according to the PBNU plenary meeting at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday, July 28.

The Special Committee for Hajj Questionnaires is currently being rolled out by the DPR. The special committee has also been knocked at the DPR's plenary meeting for discussion.

The DPR leadership who knocked the Hajj budget committee was the General Chair of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, as well as the Chair of the DPR's Hajj Supervisory Team.
