Officially Official Airline For The 79th Anniversary Of The Republic Of Indonesia, Garuda Prepares 11,508 Flight Seats To Balikpapan

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia's national airline has officially become the official airline for the 79th Indonesian Independence Day. Garuda Indonesia has prepared at least 11,508 flight seats for the Jakarta-Balikpapan pp route.

The appointment of Garuda Indonesia as the official airline for the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was marked by the signing of the Corporate Sales Cooperation Agreement with the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) which was carried out by the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra with the Secretary of OIKN Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya on Friday, July 26.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said that his airline operates 70 flights including 30 extra flights to support the 79th Indonesian Independence Day in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

"During the period 15 to 20 August, Garuda Indonesia will prepare at least 11,508 flight seats for the Jakarta-Balikpapan pp route by operating 70 flights including 30 extra flights," he said in an official statement, Sunday, July 28.

Irfan said this collaboration with OIKN is a tangible form of Garuda Indonesia's commitment as a national flag carrier to be at the forefront of supporting the smoothness and determination of national events, especially in commemorating Indonesian Independence Day.

"Of course it is our own pride to be able to support the smoothness of the moment that is the pride of the Indonesian people and has been awaited every year to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day," said Irfan.

Irfan explained that Garuda Indonesia's support for the implementation of the commemoration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day was also optimized through providing added value for IKN workers in the form of additional baggage of 5 kilograms (kg), and the installation of special livery on the B737-800 NG fleet with PK-GMD registration number.

"As well as increasing capacity both through the operation of wide-body aircraft as well as increasing flight frequency to and from Balikpapan in the period 15-20 August 2024," he explained.

In addition, said Irfan, Garuda Indonesia also provides various added value for workers under the auspices of IKN and their families, including discounts on special prices for international routes to ticket flexibility.

On this occasion, the Acting Head of the IKN Authority who is also the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono expressed his appreciation to Garuda Indonesia for his support as IKN.

"Hopefully this cooperation will not only stop working with IKN, but it is hoped that in the future it can also be expanded to various sectors including the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and to the Ministry of ATR-BPN," said Basuki.
