Yogyakarta Prepares The Center For Superior Ancient Scripts, Will Be Launched In September 2024

JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Library and Archives Service has prepared a leading center for the ancient manuscript under the name of the Gantari Seed Center which will be launched in September 2024.

"The Gantari Seed Center was launched in September 2024, along with the inauguration of the expansion of the library building in Kotabaru," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Library and Archives Service (DPK) Afia Rosdiana in a statement in Yogyakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, July 27.

Afia said the oldest archive stored and managed in the city of Yogyakarta was an archive around 1825.

According to him, to protect archives in Gudeg City, preservation efforts were made for archival protection and maintenance as well as restoration or repair of archives.

In the field of archives, the Yogyakarta City DPK will also manage the nation's collective memory with the theme Kotabaru area.

Acting (Pj) Mayor of Yogyakarta Sugeng Purwanto stated that the Yogyakarta City Government is committed to managing archives or documents, including facilitating archive services to the public.

According to him, so far the archives have often been underestimated as if their values and functions are often underestimated.

In fact, he said, many crucial problems involving extraordinary interests were resolved by the presence of authentic evidence in the form of archives.

"The Yogyakarta City Government is very committed to how to manage archives and administration in the field of archives as well as the use of these archives we continue to lift. As well as providing understanding to the public, this archive is important," said Sugeng.

According to him, the Yogyakarta City Archives and Library Office has proven its achievements to help solve problems and achievements in handling archives.

"Whatever form and look of the archive must be maintained. That is the commitment of the Yogyakarta City Government," said Sugeng.
