Anticlimactic Persib In The 2024 President's Cup, Final Settlement Becomes PR
JAKARTA - Persib Bandung failed to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 Presidential Cup. They only ended the group stage in third place with a collection of three points from three matches.
The defeat to Persis Solo 0-1 in the final match of Group A, Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, made them fail to take advantage of their last chance to fight for the knockout ticket.
Their appearance was fairly anticlimactic during the group phase. Maung Bandung assured in the first match by silencing PSM Makassar 2-0.
However, their performances decreased in the two matches after that. Persib could not even score and lost by an identical score 0-1.
The final finish turned out to be a serious problem. Maung Bandung could create many chances in the two matches against Borneo FC and Persis Solo, but failed to produce goals.

"I've been saying since before the game, we've asked players to pay attention to a few things."
"We are showing progress by having many chances. The draw is that we cannot score goals," said Persib assistant coach Igor Tolic after the match against Persis.
Tolic took the example when fighting Persis how the opponent's tight defense made it difficult for Maung Bandung to convert chances into goals.
Moreover, the situation is that Persib is 0-1 behind. Exactly also piled up players and lowered the line of defense.
"We played a little wait in the second half and put the ball behind the line of defense to find a gap. However, the opposing team lowered the line of defense. Business crossing was also unsuccessful," said Tolic.
"We also have quite a lot of chances in the second half. Basically, if we can't score, we can't win," he said again.
When fighting Borneo, Persib's condition was not much different. They are minimal in possession (34:66), but have effectiveness in attack.
Maung Bandung had more shots into the net than Pesut Etam (4:2), but none of their efforts paid off.
