Dismantling Home Industry For Ecstasy Pills In Banjar, South Kalimantan, Police Say It Has Been Operating For 2 Months

JAKARTA - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) dismantled the home industry for ecstasy pills controlled by a young man with the initials RC (30) in Banjar Regency.

"The perpetrator made this ecstasy for two months and has circulated 200 pills," said the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Kelana Jaya in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Thursday, July 25, confiscated by Antara.

The disclosure of the home industry of ecstasy pills stems from public information that the perpetrators circulated drugs followed up by the police.

An investigation was also carried out by a team led by the Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Zaenal Arifien by monitoring the targets' movements until an arrest was made at his home on Jalan Handil Bahalang II in Kertak Hanyar District, Banjar Regency on Friday 19 July.

During the search, it turned out that the perpetrator's house was found in the activities of making ecstasy with various chemicals and production equipment.

As for the production, it was found that brown powder was suspected of being narcotics with a gross weight of 1.45 grams, which was then tested by the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) of the Surabaya Branch Police Headquarters with positive results containing narcotics compounds metchathinone and ephedrine.

"This compound has the same structure as amphetamine which is known as ecstasy," said Kelana.

Based on the perpetrator's confession to the police, that he was controlled by a prisoner at a prison in South Kalimantan.

"So this perpetrator learned to mix ecstasy from an inmate with raw materials he bought himself either online or to a shop that provides chemicals," said Kelana.

According to him, for his actions, the perpetrators who have been designated as suspects are subject to Article 113 paragraph (1) subs Article 112 paragraph (1) and Article 129 Letter (a) and or letter (b) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

The success of revealing the narcotics home industry was appreciated by the Pharmacists Professional Study Program Team of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM).

Through his lecturer representative, Nur Cahaya, the circulation of homemade ecstasy is very dangerous for those who consume it.

"Methcathinone and effedrine are the same as amphetamines with euphoric effects, hallucinations to death threats if they are overdose in their use," he said.
