Polda Metro Bans The Use Of Earphones While Driving

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya prohibits the use of ear absorbers or earphones while driving. The use of earphones is said to break concentrations that have the potential for traffic accidents.

"Want to use headsets, bluetooth, it is forbidden, because using a cellphone while driving is prohibited. That's a violation," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Thursday, July 25.

This prohibition was conveyed considering that motorists were still found doing this during Operation Patuh Jaya 2024 as of July 24.

Although not in detail the number of violations of the use of earphones, Ade said that hundreds of motorists violated the use of cellphones while driving.

Then, there are also thousands of road markings violations. Where, this type of violation is related to concentration while driving.

"The road headquarters are still being violated, there are 1,862 violators. For four wheels, this still uses a lot of cellphones while driving. This is a violation," he said.

"Earlier, 341 people used cellphones while driving. They did not use a safety belt of 14,863," he said.

Then, there were also those who did not wear helmets according to standards, namely 2,629 violators and against the flow as many as 2,767 violators.

Overall, there were 22,719 violations that were taken electronically. Then, there are also motorists who are only given a warning.

"Then the main approach is education, sympathetic and humanist warnings in addition to law enforcement if there are 19,929 violations that have the potential for accidents," said Ade.

Meanwhile, Operation Patuh Jaya 2024 will be carried out for two weeks starting from July 15 to July 28.

In the implementation of Operation Patuh Jaya 2024, there are 14 types of violations that will be a priority for prosecution. The details;

1. violation against the current.

2. Driving under the influence of alcohol.

3. Using a cell phone while driving.

4. Not wearing a SNI helmet.

5. Not wearing a safety belt.

6. Exceed the speed limit.

7. Underage driving or not having a driver's license.

9. Four-wheeled vehicles or more do not meet roadworthy.

10. Vehicle violations are not equipped with STNK.

11. Violating the road markings.

12. Installing rotators and sirens is not intended.
