Israeli Troops Find Bodies Of 5 People, Including Soldiers Hostage In Gaza Strip

JAKARTA - Israeli forces found five bodies believed to have been killed in a Hamas militant attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023 and taken to the Gaza Strip, where they were held hostage.

Israeli forces said the bodies of the Maya Goren hostages and four soldiers had been brought to Israel. They were identified as Sergeant Oren Goldin, Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas, Sergeant Major Ravid Aryeh Katz, and Sergeant Kiril Brodski.

The bodies were found on Wednesday, July 24, during an operation in Khan Yunis, the main city of the southern Gaza Strip, the military said.

The military announced the death of Goren in December.

The announcement came after two Israeli Kibbutzim/cavities, Nir Oz and Nir Yitzhak, said in a separate statement the army had taken the bodies of Goren and Goldin.

"Last night, we were told that during a military rescue operation, the body of the late Maya Goren was found," said Kibbuz Nir Oz.

Later, kebbutz Nir Yitzhak said the army had returned Goldin's body.

"Tonight, we were informed of the operation to rescue the late Oren Goldin, a member of the kibbutz emergency team, who crashed on October 7 during the Hamas militant attack," said Nir Yitzhak.
