Twitch Strictly Takes Action Against Sexual Harassment In Chat Rooms

JAKARTA Streaming platform Twitch updates policies on sexual harassment to make it easier to understand. In this update, Twitch clarifies what will be considered sexual harassment. "To remove ambiguity, we have added additional languages about what we forbid," Twitch said through its official website. "This core definition serves as a basis and better in setting our expectations around behavior." Twitch asserts that non-physical behavior that is sexual and makes users feel uncomfortable, insecure, or humiliated will be considered harassment. Twitch does not tolerate sending intimate photos or videos without consensual. To eradicate sexual harassment in chat rooms, Twitch has updated its moderation tool called AutoMod. This update adds an AutoMod category that can identify and limit inappropriate or offensive chat messages. "If a streamer uses AutoMod on its channel, this tool will detect and hold potentially dangerous messages to be reviewed by mod, before the message is shown to other viewers in chat," Twitch explained. New AutoMod of Twitch will provide additional protection layers and can block messages containing elements of sexual harassment directly, even before its message is raised in the chat room.

"You can adjust how tight you want AutoMods to hold back messages, and streamers and mods can decide whether to take action against AutoMod-detained messages or not," Twitch said. This latest AutoMod category started rolling out on July 23. For now, AutoMod categories are only available in English. Twitch hasn't revealed when they will add another language.
